Area Rug Cleaning

Cleaning area rugs requires special care. Each rug needs to be carefully inspected to determine the type of fibers and the current condition of the rug before being cleaned. Some carpets can be cleaned on-site and others must be taken away to be cleaned properly.

Never trust your area rug with an inexperienced cleaner. It takes a significant amount of experience to know the best method of cleaning for each individual area rug. Mistakes can be costly and can permanently damage your rug.

Tri-County Carpet Care has the equipment and experience to clean all types of area rugs: synthetic, wool, silk, antique and more.

Tips for Caring for Your Area Rug

Rotation

To insure even wear, your rug should be rotated once a year. If the rug is in a high-traffic area, rotate it every six months.

Vacuuming
Area rugs, like most carpeting, should be vacuumed on a regular basis to remove dirt and restore life to the fibers. A study done by Eureka found that a 9'x12' area rug can hold up to 87 pounds of dirt. Be sure not to vacuum the fringe wither the beater bar! Use the end of the vacuum hose from a canister vacuum.

Padding
A quality pad used under your rug helps to protect it from dirt, wear and slippage.

Tips for Spill and Spot Removal
Make sure you safely and immediately clean up spots and spills before they set.

1. Soak up liquid by blotting with a clean, white absorbent cloth. Do not brush or rub the stain.

2. Spot clean with a mild detergent and white vinegar water solution. Do not over wet.

3. Blot dry until most of the moisture has been absorbed.

4. A fan or hair dryer on a cool setting can be used to expedite dry time.

5. If any stain remains, contact Tri-County Carpet Care for assistance.
